Yunnan Normal University (YNNU, 云南师范大学) is a provincial key normal university co-constructed by the Ministry of Education and the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. When the legendary National Southwestern Associated University (Lianda) formed by Peking, Tsinghua, and Nankai demobilized north in 1946, its Normal College remained in Kunming to continue independent education as National Kunming Normal College, celebrated as the "Cradle of People's Teachers on the Red Soil Plateau."
Spanning 2,848 mu across Chenggong and historic 121 campuses in Kunming, YNNU is nationally famous for Solar Energy & Renewable Energy, Pedagogy, Geography, and Agricultural Engineering. Chemistry, Engineering, and Materials Science rank in the global top 1% of ESI. It operates the Sino-German Solar Energy Center and the State Key Laboratory Cultivation Base of Plateau Geographic Processes and Environmental Change.
