Yangtze University (YU, 长江大学) is the largest comprehensive provincial university in Hubei Province, co-constructed by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and CNPC, Sinopec, and CNOOC. Formed in 2003 through the merger of Jianghan Petroleum Institute, Hubei Agricultural College, Jingzhou Teachers College, and Hubei Medical College, YU inherits the profound 3,000-year cultural heritage of ancient Chu State.
