Xinjiang Normal University (XJNU, 新疆师范大学) is a key regional normal university located in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Approved by the Ministry of Education in December 1978 following the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, it traces its pedagogical roots to Xinjiang Provincial Junior Normal School founded in 1906.
