Wuhan Sports University (WSU, 武汉体育学院) was established in 1953 in Nanchang as Central South Institute of Physical Education and relocated to Wuhan in 1955. Co-constructed by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Hubei Provincial People's Government, WSU is one of New China's premier specialized physical education institutions, graduating over 160,000 elite athletes, national coaches, and sports scientists.
Spanning 1,820 mu across East Lake (Zhuodaoquan), Canglong Island, and Wudang Mountain campuses in Wuhan, WSU operates 2 tertiary affiliated hospitals and specialized doctoral programs in Physical Education & Sports Science.
