Inner Mongolia Minzu University (IMUN, 内蒙古民族大学) was established in 2000 through the merger of Inner Mongolia National Teachers College (est. 1958), Inner Mongolia Mongolian Medical College, and Jirem Animal Husbandry College. Co-constructed by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, IMUN sits in Tongliao—the "Pearl of the Horqin Grassland."
Spanning 3,246 mu, IMUN educates over 24,000 full-time students. The university holds world-unique academic standing in Traditional Mongolian Medicine (TMM), Animal Science, and Northern Ethnic Philology.
