Harbin University of Science and Technology (HUST, 哈尔滨理工大学) was formed in 1995 through the merger of Harbin University of Science and Technology, Harbin Institute of Electrical Engineering, and Harbin Higher Industrial Vocational School. Co-constructed by the Heilongjiang Provincial Government and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND), it is heralded as the "Cradle of China's Modern Wire and Cable Industry."
HUST spans four campuses in Harbin covering 1.63 million square meters. Engineering, Materials Science, and Computer Science rank in the global top 1% of ESI (Engineering in the top 2‰). The university houses the State Key Laboratory of High-Voltage Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation and leads China in heavy machinery tool precision and electrical insulation testing.
