Chongqing Medical University (CQMU, 重庆医科大学) was established in 1956 through the wholesale relocation of faculty and clinical resources from Shanghai First Medical College (now Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University). Co-constructed by the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission, and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, CQMU is recognized as an official MOE Demonstration Base for International Education in China.
Covering 2,650 mu across its Yuanjiagang and Jinyun campuses, CQMU operates 15 affiliated Grade 3A hospitals with over 15,000 hospital beds. Clinical Medicine ranks in the global top 1‰ of ESI, alongside 8 other medical fields in the top 1%. CQMU features the State Key Laboratory of Ultrasound in Medicine and developed the world’s first High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) tumor therapeutic system.
CQMU enrolls nearly 600 international students from over 50 countries in its WHO-recognized English MBBS degree, supported by the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC Type B) and Chongqing Municipal Mayor's Fellowships.
