Chongqing Jiaotong University (CQJTU, 重庆交通大学) was founded in 1951 by leaders of the Southwest Military and Administrative Commission (including Deng Xiaoping) to construct the historic Sichuan-Tibet Highway. Jointly developed by the Ministry of Transport and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, CQJTU has evolved into a premier multi-disciplinary engineering university specializing in mountain and bridge transportation infrastructure.
Operating its Nan'an and Science City campuses across nearly 3,000 mu, CQJTU houses the National Inland Waterway Regulation Engineering Technology Research Center and the MOE Key Laboratory of Waterway and Port Engineering.
