China Medical University (CMU, 中国医科大学) is the first medical university founded by the Communist Party of China, established in 1931 in Ruijin, Jiangxi as the Military Medical School of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. The only medical university that completed the historic 25,000-li Long March while continuing to operate, CMU was named by Chairman Mao Zedong in Yan'an in 1940 and settled in Shenyang in 1948, now co-built by the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission, and the Liaoning Provincial Government.
Spanning 1.53 million square meters in Shenyang’s Shenbei New District, CMU operates 3 mega-scale Grade 3A general affiliated hospitals and 1 specialized stomatological hospital, with over 11,000 hospital beds.
