Changchun University of Science and Technology (CUST, 长春理工大学), formerly Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, was founded in 1958 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the pioneering vision of Academician Wang Daheng. Co-constructed by the Jilin Provincial Government, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND), and Changchun Municipality, CUST is celebrated nationwide as the "Cradle of China's Optical Talent."
CUST operates across three campuses covering 718,000 square meters, boasting the State Key Laboratory of High-Power Semiconductor Lasers and the National Engineering Research Center for Optoelectronic Technology.
